Yet Another Reason Why Tom Morello Is AWESOME ~ Video

Tom Morello, the WICKED guitarist from Rage Against The Machine, played a set earlier today at the Occupy Wall Street demonstration in Manhattan, New York City.
I love how politically involved and passionate this guy is. Check out the videos below, one where he gets the crowd to help him with his message, the second where Tom Morello leads the crowd in a version of 'This Land Is Your Land.'

Dear Tom Morello, you are awesome. That is all.









On a side note Kanye West and Russell Simmons also stopped by the protest earlier this week and mingled with the crowd. CooooOOOOooool.

The Muppets Go Grunge

A new Muppets movie you say? Yup. Believe it!                                  

The new Muppets movie will not only feature a bunch of cameos by some big names (Jack Black, Ricky Gervais, Lady Gaga)  ~ those crazy puppets are also doing some weird covers. Expect to hear the Muppets singing their own version of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', and Cee Lo Green's 'Forget You' (although I feel that covering the original version, 'Fuck You' would be so much more interesting...can you imagine?!?!).


 You can also expect to see Dave Grohl behind the Muppets drum kit. In the movie, he'll be temporarily filling in for the usual drummer Animal, while he's away at an anger management course.



 So who's responsible for creating another muppet movie? Believe it or not, it's all thanks to Jason Segel. He's the dude from the TV show 'How I Met Your Mother.' He both wrote the script and stars in the movie. I've got high hopes for this one I tell ya. High hopes...

The movie comes out early next year.

FAMILY GUY FAVOURITE!!!

I was hanging out with my friend Big White Peter the other day (obvious nickname... and yes I call him this) and he was making a joke referring to me as 'Consuela'. I was all 'WHO???'. He was both shocked and appalled by my ignorance and then he showed me the Consuela montage on Youtube and I've been obsessed about it ever since. It makes fun of every Latin stereotype out there. So awesome.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the glory that is Thom.



He's born October 7th, 1968 in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. (Does this mean he can say he was born in 'The Shire'????). Ha.

So what's the deal with the eye? THE EYE!!!! Well according to Wiki (and Wiki never lies right? Right?...) " At birth, his left eye was fixed shut; the doctors determined that the eye was paralyzed and that the condition was permanent. Yorke's parents took him to an eye specialist, who suggested a muscle graft. Yorke underwent five eye operations before he was six years old.Yorke's father, a chemical equipment salesman, was hired by a firm in Scotland shortly after his son's birth and the family lived there until Yorke was seven. During this time Yorke had to wear a patch over his eye. He has stated that the last surgery was "botched," giving him a drooping eyelid."

Well that sucks.

This guy is practically a GOD in the music world. He's been named one of the most influential / powerful figures in the music industry and one of the greatest artists of all time. Obviously this means tons of musicians are going to want to work with the guy, right? The list of rejected musical collaboration hopefuls include Jack Black, Miley Cyrus (huh??? Thank GAD!) and Kanye West.

Apple Tribute - Why did this make me feel weird???

I've been visiting the familia here in Edmonton for the past week, and yesterday I got the news that Steve Jobs passed away. The whole world seems to be kinda shocked, and I get it. The dude was a BIG DEAL.
I went to an apple store today to switch my mom's broken iPod (See below. A limited edition U2 iPod. Old school but AWESOME!) for the replacement Apple was giving her.

 Bye bye U2 iPod :(






















Once we switched out the iPod, we headed out of the store and this is what we saw. I don't know why, but it made me feel a tad bit uncomfortable. Thoughts??? Are there more of these tributes at other Apple stores???


I like the little apple with the penny though :)

Either way, it's the end of an area and a reminder that cancer doesn't give a rats ass if you're rich or poor. Damn you cancer!!!!

Boo-urns to movie studio big wigs :P

It looks like movie studio bosses have decided to stop paying for the free 3D glasses we get before we head into a 3D movie.


If you’re like me (aka: thrify), you’re saying ‘no biggie, I’ll just keep the pair I scammed from the theatre last week.’ Nope, that’s not gonna help. Movie studios are now adding the cost for the 3D glasses to the movie ticket price.

 

3D movies will now cost about $86 to watch. Just kidding. It IS getting more expensive though. Boo-urns :P

The sky is falling. LITERALLY!!!!

Nasa scientists say that by Friday, a satellite will hit earth. Your chances of getting hit with some shrapnel? 1 in 3200. I don't like those odds. No sir, I don't.  NASA says the debris footprint could stretch about 500 miles - and to make things more exciting for ya, scientists say the satellite will break into 26 pieces as it gets closer to our planet.


You know what? I ain't going out like dat. (Heck yeah. I just went there).
