It's official, singer & actress Zooey Deschanel has filed for divorce from Death Cab for Cutie's lead singer, Ben Gibbard. Deschanel filed for divorce on December 27 2011. The papers list the date of their separation as October 31 2011 and cite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their break up. SAD.

The pair – who tied the knot in December 2009 – were married for a total of two years. Truth be told, I didn't even know that they were separated. A source close to the couple says that the split was "mutual, amicable and there was no cheating involved".

When you think about it, we never actually saw the couple together.... ever. Ah well. Another celebrity marriage bites the big one.
