If You're On Twitter, You Need To Know This. *Caution - It's Addictive*

by Carmen Cruz

My buddy Producer Dan turned me onto this site and ever since then, I've been hooked. It's called 'Who Unfollowed Me' and you basically sign in and find out who deleted you from their twitter account and who isn't following you. Now I know this sounds like a scam but I cross my hear and swear to Gad that it's not.
Basically, all ya have to do is click here.

**Caution ~ This site is extremely addictive. You might find yourself checking it 2, 5, or 7 times a day.**

Enjoy!

p.s: If someone deleted you from their account, don't take it personally n'kay? It's just twitter!

A-W-K-W-A-R-D!!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Prepare to witness the most awkward wedding kiss in history. No exaggeration here. The back story is that TLC is debuting a new show called 'Virgin Diaries' (premiering THIS Sunday). The show features adults who are still virgins and decide to save 'it' for marriage.
The man in the video you're about to watch went so far as to save his FIRST KISS for marriage.
This, my friends, is a recipe for an EAD = EXTREMELY AWKWARD DISASTER. Try not to cringe when you watch this.

Enjoy!

It's December! Time for some Christmas music.

by Carmen Cruz

Can you believe that it's already December 1st??? CaRayZee!!!
I don't know about you, but I'm getting into the Christmas spirit by listening to some Xmas music.
The Killers have released a new holiday single called 'The Cowboy's Christmas Ball'. The track has been released to coincide with World Aids Day (TODAY!) with proceeds going towards the (RED) campaign which helps fight HIV/Aids in Africa. You can buy it online now, and if you do, the EP also contains the bands previous Christmas releases.
Ready to get into the Christmas spirit???
Here it is. 'The Cowboys' Christmas Ball' by  The Killers.

Here's an older Killers holiday tune. It's called 'Don't shoot me Santa'. WEIRD.

FYI: The Killers are in studio at this very moment, working on their 4rth album. Cool :)

Mmmmmhop!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Remember that boy band 'Hanson' from back in the 90's? You know... those 3 brothers who sang    'Mmmmbop'. Well since they had their one big hit, most of the boys have gotten married, and continue to release albums (Yup. STILL making music).
Now the brothers are releasing their own brand of beer called 'Mmmhop'. The Indian pale ale will be available for you to try early next year. Will the fact that it's Hanson's very own beer encourage or discourage you from trying it? Hmmmmm....

And now for nostalgia's sake:

Star Trek 2 Release Date!

by Carmen Cruz

Yup. I'm a major Star Trek fan, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Star Trek with Captain Kirk and Spock (not so much into the newer generations).

Whoa. Really nerded out there for a second huh?!?!

So it's been confirmed that the OFFICIAL release date for Star Trek 2 is May 13, 2013. Kind of far away from now, but meh. I'm just pumped that another one is coming out. LOOOOOOOOVED the first one!

The main cast are all expected to return for the sequel, including Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock (hopefully Anton Yelchin, the guy who played Chekov, will be back as well. He was my absolute favourite! Loved his accent).

So, as they say, live long and prosper (*insert trekky hand sign here**).

FYI: The Urban Dictionary defines a Trekky as : " A small greasy fellow with flaky skin who watches so much Star Trek that he can fluently speak Klingon. Showers infrequently. Dresses up as Captain Kirk and tries to get autographs from washed up 70's sci-fi actors, who have no other means with which to pay their bills but to show up at conventions."

Haaa haaa... wait a minute...

Lady Gaga's personal message.

by Carmen Cruz

Here's an anti-bullying video message that Lady Gaga sent to a 17-year-old fan who has been lobbying against bullying at the Etobicoke School of the Arts here in good ol' Canada. I must say, it's both impressive and heartwarming to see a massive celebrity like Lady Gaga using her star power to bring awareness to an important issue like this.

Please spread the love.

Goodbye Grooveshark???

by Carmen Cruz

Uh-oh.
If you're a fan of the music streaming site Grooveshark, you'd better enjoy it while you can. Universal music has filed a lawsuit against the site and are asking for major $$$
If you've never heard of Grooveshark, it's a wicked site where you can search, stream and upload music. It's a great way to discover new tunes you would have never had the chance to hear anywhere else. It's also a fantastic way to create the ultimate playlist.
Apparently, Universal have obtained evidence proving that Grooveshark employees posted pirated songs on their service and are seeking damages of up to $150,000 PER violation. That makes the total lawsuit worth close to $17 BILLION!!!!

                 VS.

(**Legal mumbo jumbo: The Digital Millennium Copyright Act protects sites like Grooveshark in that it makes it ok for USERS to upload copyrighted tunes to the sites, but it's NOT OK for employees of the sites to upload any copyrighted music**).

The Grooveshark camp said they deny these claims and says "the record company's case is wholly reliant on an anonymous, blatantly false internet blog comment".

Either way, I'm pulling for the site.

Nickelback = Nickelblock

by Carmen Cruz

I'm not a fan of Nickelback. I know some people passionately detest them, but this is taking it to a whole new level!
I just found out about this free service you can download called 'Nickelblock'. What this does is eliminate all mentions and traces of Chad Kroeger and co when you're surfing the internet.

I don't know...is this wise? After all, they've just released a brand new album soooooo.... ;D

Here's that site and yes, it's safe.

Frank Sinatra was in a porno??? Nooooooo!!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Yup, I just found out about this.
Apparently, the author of Frank Sinatra's biography (Frank Sinatra: The Boudoir Singer), Darwin Porter, claims that when ol' blue eyes was 19, he was completely broke and hurting for cash. In his desperation, he agreed to appear in a porn flick called 'The Masked Bandit'  for about $100 back in 1934.
According to the author, Sinatra had asked his fellow Rat Pack amigo Sammy Davis Jr to delete his copy of the tape. (Question: Why would Sammy Davis Jr even have a copy? Ew).
Another copy eventually surfaced in the hands of a British actor (Peter Lawford) who screened the x-rated film to an audience of Sinatra's friends. YIKES!!!!
Frank Sinatra was so (understandably) desperate to hide this part of his past, that he was rumoured to have called some of his friends in the mob to stop the tape from surfacing ever again.

I've always been a fan of Frank Sinatra but ya can't help but feel totally grossed out by this.

The Masked Bandit? Ew.

And on that awkward note... Let's try to remember him like this, n'kay?

AWESOME NEWS!!! YAAAAAYYY!!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Fellow TV nerds, prepare to whip out your Snuggie and rejoice!
It's just been confirmed that the show Arrested Development will be streaming a BRAND NEW SEASON on Netflix!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!
A movie is in the works too :)
As you can tell, I'm a tad bit excited about this.
It's honestly one of my favourite shows EVER and despite winning a whole shwack of awards, it was cancelled after just three seasons. I remember reading an article about it in a major magazine that said the show was 'witty, amazing, and too smart for Americans', hence it's cancellation (the magazine said this. Not me).
Most of the original cast has signed on but Will Arnett, who plays the character Gob Bluth, and Portia de Rossi, who portrays Lindsay Fünke are still not confirmed. Boo. It just wouldn't be the same without Gob. (This song will ALWAYS remind me of his character. If you were into the show, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about).

So it looks like the new series would feature nine or 10 episodes focusing on each character leading up to the big movie release.
Both the show & the movie begin filming sometime next summer and we'll be able to watch it on TV and the big screen in early 2013.
I can't wait!!!

Bob Loblaw.  <------

That is all.

On Monday, The Secret Will Be Out!!!

by Carmen Cruz

What secret???
Victoria's Secret!
The massive lingerie retailer opens its doors for the first time here in Vancouver, on Monday in the U.S. Terminal of the Vancouver International Airport. They'll carry the usual VS merchandise including perfumes, make-up, bags, wallets, sunglasses and jewelry. Aaaaand, rumour has it there's going to be a 'panty bar' located near the center of the store. A panty bar??? I have no idea what this is, but sorry boys, I'm thinking it won't be Victoria's Secret models serving you a frosty cerveza in their ginch.

Either way, doors open on Monday. I'm curious as to how VS will do at YVR, rather than in a mall. Let me see... the parking is expensive and crappy and it's not at all conveniently located. I guess it's pretty much the same as locating it in downtown Vancouver, am I right? Truth be told, this will be just one of 3 VS stores opening up in Van. The other one is slated to appear in Pacific Centre (no idea when) and the 3rd will be opening in either Oakridge or Metrotown (don't hold you breath for anything soon though).

Now while I'm definitely not going to go out of my way to drive down to the airport to check out the new VS store, you can rest assured that then next time I'm picking up or dropping off someone at YVR, I'll be making my way there extra early ;).

Oh! And all this talk about Victoria's Secret might have you wondering when their famously infamous fashion show airs on TV. Don't worry, you haven't missed it. You can catch the 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show November 29th on CBS.

Songs of The Week!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Here's a few songs I have on repeat right now.

Queens Of The Stone Age ~ Go With The Flow - Oh how this song reminds me of the game 'Rock Band'!!!!

A former colleague in Calgary was telling me how a friend of hers had boinked Josh Homme when he came through Cow Town a couple of months ago. The dude is married and has a couple of kids. Douche!!! My crush on the 'Ginger Elvis' has died. Last I heard, he was still texting the hussy on a regular basis. SOOOO LAME!

Jaydiohead ~ A cool mix of Jay-Z and Radiohead. Believe it.

And speaking of Jay-Z...

Kayne West & Jay-z ft. Frank Ocean ~ No Church In The Wild - This song has such a wicked beat.

Mark Ronson ~ Amy - Mark Ronson is the bees knees. He worked with Amy Winehouse on her music and they became super close friends. Is this a song for her??? No idea. Wicked tune though.

Fiona Apple ~ Paper Bag - Whatever happened to Fiona Apple? Seriously??? Well she's released a few albums since her glory days in the late 90's and rumour had it that she was supposed to release a new album she worked on with Michelle Branch this past spring Still... Nada. What gives?

Lil Wayne ~ How To Love - Soooooo gooOOOooood!

Erykah Badu ~ Bag Lady - A song about ladies carrying around all that useless emotional baggage.
Pack light.

My sister is a photographer (here's her site, if you're interested!) and this song inspired this pic for one of her projects.  Thank GAD for photoshop!

Enjoy!
