Slash records theme song for 'Angry Birds Space' *LISTEN*

by Carmen Cruz

It's always funny to find out who's addicted to the games you just can't stop playing.
A perfect example is Slash from Guns N' Roses being hooked on Angry Birds. He loves the game so much that he's written a theme song for it.
Slash said: "Angry Birds found out that I was a big fan and reached out to me, I really jumped at the change to get involved."

Enjoy.

New Music Video For Phoenix *WATCH*

by Carmen Cruz

Phoenix have unveiled a music video for their new single called 'Entertainment'.
The video was directed by Patrick Daughters, the same guy who worked on videos for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings Of Leon, Beck and Interpol.

Their new album called 'Bankrupt!' comes out April 22nd.
They're also going to be performing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on March 28th. There are still just a few tickets left (price ranges from $45 - $70). If you've never seen these boys live, I highly recommend that you do... and bring your dancing shoes.
Awesome!

Enjoy.

The :O!!! Moment Of The Month

by Carmen Cruz

If you're a dog owner, you know all about the ritual that comes with walking your pooch.
When one dog passes another, there's the usual sniffing of the bum/private area that takes place. As we all know, it's a dog's way of saying 'what's up'.
This is the exact moment when the owners awkwardly try to pretend they don't see their beloved canine's nose shoved against another dog's bid-ness.
It was during one such occasion where a male chihuahua-type dog had his nose shoved deep between (my male dog) Malsow's legs.
Upon seeing this, the owner loudly stated to her dog, "Rex, stop acting like a big fat homo!"

;O !!!!

So what was I to do?
I quickly grabbed Maslow and took off.

Really? People like this still exist?!?!?!

Vancouver Poutine Festival

by Carmen Cruz

Last years very first Vancouver Poutine Festival was such a huge success that La Belle Patate and Francouver.ca have once again joined forces to bring back the celebration of artery clogging goodness for yet another year.

The two day festival (Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th) showcases poutine (I'm talking the REAL stuff here -  squeaky cheese and all), poutine tastings, events for the kiddies (during the day), live music (in the evenings) and a celebration of all things Francophone.
It's all happening at the Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street), and sadly, the $10 pre-sale tickets are completely sold out... but no worries! There will be rush tickets available at the door at 1:30pm for the afternoon event, and 7:30pm for the evening event. Space is limited, so make sure you show up early.

Yum.

Why?????

by Carmen Cruz

What's with everyone adding 'right?' at the end of their sentences? Since when has everyone turned into an LA surfer girl?

Example:
person 1 ~ This ice cream is delicious.
person 2 ~ I know, right?

Example:
person 1 ~ I can't believe he said that!
person 2 ~ Right????

I've noticed this happening more, and more, and more, and now so will you.... right?

As it turns out, many others feel the same way about this annoying phenomenon. In fact, someone took their hatred for 'I know, right?' to the next level and made a video and (surprise, surprise) facebook page about it.
Check it out.

Enjoy.

Local Businesses Can Expect To See A Lot Of THESE Coming Through Their Doors

by Carmen Cruz

If you haven't seen these yet, you soon will. The many people employed by BC's film industry are trying to create awareness and spread the word.

But will it make a difference? Here's hoping. BC seems to be losing film and television projects left, right and centre. More info here.

February Photo Diary

by Carmen Cruz

A random collection of some of the pictures I've taken over the past month using my iPhone.

Abandoned rusty old ladder on a beach.

View from Point Grey. The rain had finally passed.

Abandoned stairway to heaven?

Pumpkin steamed bun from T&T. While the idea sounds delicious, in reality, it most certainly was not :(

This is one of the reasons I love Vancouver. Finding random things like this posted throughout the city (near Broadway & Oak) just kinda makes your day.

The Biggest Fail This Year (So Far)

by Carmen Cruz

You know you've done it before.
You hear about horrible things happening to people and think to yourself, 'Poor bastard. Thank GAD it's not me.'
Well guess what... I'm officially one of the poor bastards.
A couple of weeks ago, I was listening to CBC's 'The Early Edition', and they were taking about how a branch of government had lost a portable hard drive with a bunch of people's personal information on it.
Really?????????
FAIL!!!
I remember thinking to myself, 'Wow. That really sucks', and then I pushed it out of my mind (like most of us do, right?).
Then, I got THIS in the mail...

So my personal info is lost.
It's out there somewhere, hopefully sitting in a puddle in an alley in the middle of nowhere, totally unusable. Or better yet, it's in a landfill, sitting under a bunch of dirty diapers and half empty styrofoam takeout boxes.
Here's hoping.

I feel somewhat vulnerable about the whole thing, but I've been reassured over and over again by government department heads that my personal information will be 'carefully monitored at all times for suspicious activities' and that I'll be 'contacted if absolutely anything questionable arises'.
Plus, I pretty much need to carry at least about 5 different pieces of picture ID on me at all times (clearly, I exaggerate).
Greeeeeeeeat.

So I ask myself, how could the government manage to drop the ball so badly?
...And then I laugh at myself for asking such a stupid question.

Either way, if anyone DOES get a hold of my info, I ask him/her just one small favour:
Make that student loan of mine disappear, will ya?
