Singing Drunk Guy = Hilarious ~ Is he from Vancouver????

by Carmen Cruz

Got this from a coworker.

"Robert Wilkinson, got arrested for intoxication and didn't agree with the charges. After pleading his case, he decides to belt out his emotions... through the music of Queen."

HILARIOUS!!!!

What's even more admirable was that he
a) remembered the lyrics to the entire tune and
b) isn't completely tone deaf.

PLUS... I'm thinking this dude lives in Vancouver. He has his own youtube channel ( http://www.youtube.com/user/bobtron5000)  and one of his videos is about leaving school... that being Vancouver Film School.

Should be be proud? Maybe a little bit... ;D

Say no to drugs (and alcohol) kids!!!

Enjoy!

Wanna help save the planet?

by Carmen Cruz

Tomorrow (Saturday) it's all about a little something called 'Earth Hour'. So what's the deal? The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) came up with a brilliant idea to help unite people in an effort to protect our little planet. All you have to do is turn out the lights TOMORROW NIGHT from 8:30PM - 9:30PM. It's all about energy conservation baby!!! So what  are you supposed to do in that hour? How about a romantic, candle lit dinner for 2?  Or enjoy a glass of vino with close friends! Or maybe you could go for an evening stroll and  literally watch all the lights being turned out throughout the city (it'll be the perfect time for star gazing)... OR... I'm sure you can come up with OTHER things you can do with the lights out **ahem** **wink, wink**. Wanna find out more info about Earth Hour? Here's a little video for ya....

There's tons more for you to check out at the Earth Hour website. You'll find messages from celebrities, politicians and yes, even cartoon charachters. You'll have a chance to see how people across the globe are doing their part to save the world!!!! Kinda... ;D

Enjoy!

Vancouver Goes Viral

by Carmen Cruz

What started as a cool idea has turned into a viral video - and it's all about Vancouver (or UBC to be more specific). It's called the University of B.C. lip-dub video and it features over 1000 students and community members lip synching to tunes by Pink and Marianas Trench.
So what's the reason for it all? It's to erase the world's assumption that Vancouver is a 'no fun city' AND of course, to show that UBC rocks!!!
I think the students and the young filmmakers involved do a kick a$$ job.
The video has already had over 1.5 million views! Wanna check it out?
Here ya go...

It kinda makes me want to go back to university, but without all that student loan nonsense. Dare to dream.... ;D

Enjoy!

A Brilliant Idea ~ Main Street Edition

by Carmen Cruz

I came across this shop purely by accident and I must say, I was BEYOND impressed.
It's this little store called The Soap Dispensary.
If you're thinking that this is some sort of super girly and frilly kind of place, you're wrong.
Here's the deal:

"The Soap Dispensary is a refill store specializing in premium household soaps, cleaners and personal care products. Customers can reuse containers to be refilled at our store, keeping single-use plastic packaging out of landfills, watersheds and wasteful recycling systems."

And nope, it's not the cheapy stuff either. It's high quality, environmentally friendly and allergy-friendly products, most of them being Canadian. CooooOOOooool!!!

I know what you're thinking and the answer is no, I'm not getting paid to say this. I just genuinely think this is a brilliant idea that's not only environmentally friendly, but also local.
Me Likey.

Check it out.

A Celebration Of All Things 'Douchey'.

by Carmen Cruz

We've all seen it, heard it or experienced it first-hand before. Douchey situations and yes, Douchey people.

Here's a list of my many experiences with Douche-ness. I'm sure many of you will be able to relate.

~ You're in a long line up at...lets say... Tim Hortons, and the person directly in front of you is groaning and complaining (loudly and dramatically) about the person ordering at the till, taking their sweet ass time. The complaints continue until the person in front of you is just one person away from the cashier. Finally, when they get up to the front, these a$$holes have no idea what they're going to order, and hold up the line for 10 minutes while they mull over the insanely complex Timmy Ho's menu.
Douche.

~ That pink liquid soap that you'll find in most bathrooms in offices, schools, fitness centers, etc. You know what I'm talking about... that pink soap you pump into your hands, try to get a lather going, and...Nada. To the Douche-y manufacturers of this pink goo - You're not fooling anyone.

~ There's nothing I detest more than standing at the pharmacy counter, chatting with your pharmacist, and the person in line behind you is standing so close that they can pretty much hear your entire conversation. Hey Douche, ever heard of a thing called Privacy and Personal Space?

~ You're driving along and see some poor bugger signaling to get into your lane. No one is letting him/her in. You decide to slow down and kindly let the person into your lane. They pull in front of you and don't even give you 'the wave'.
Major Douche!!!

~ The Gym Douche - The girl who's got the make up on, her hair down, her hoop earrings dangling and her tightest workout gear on. Is she breaking a sweat? Nope. (I end up working out next to this girl at least 2 times a week. It's the same girl. I'm sweating and snorting like a beast, while she's chatting away on her blackberry, barely moving on her cardio machine). The male equivalent is the dude who wears the designer t-shirts, long chain necklaces and toques to the gym. A toque? Really? It's not THAT cold in the gym.

Chick Races Friend Wearing High Heels - Watch More Funny Videos

~ GLEE. I've tried watching it. I've genuinely tried to understand the lure of it. Honestly? It's kinda cheesy with just a hint of douchey-ness (my brother-in-law would not be happy to hear me say this).

~ Chelsea Handler. I'm all for sarcastic humour, but this woman takes it to a whole new level. It's like she's got permanent PMS.
Douche.

That is all. ;)

~ Music News ~

by Carmen Cruz

**Music News**

Neil Young (aka: Jimmy Fallon) and Bruce Springsteen covering LMFAO's 'Sexy And I Know It'. Priceless!!!

Mumford & Sons will be on their best behaviour tonight. They were formally invited (by the UK Prime Minister himself!) to perform for him, President Barack Obama and almost 1000 guests at a state dinner at the White House tonight. CoooOOOOoooolll! So who did Obama invite to perform? The one-and-only John Legend. Fantastic choice. Can you imagine getting to hear THIS live?!?!?

Jack White wants you to hear the second single off his new solo album. The album (called 'Blunderbuss') comes out April 23rd.

The 2nd single is called 'Sixteen Saltines.' Here ya go.

And now for something dark, twisted and different...

There's a wicked electro duo from France called 'The Shoes.' They've just released a brand new EP called 'Time To Dance.' The music video for their single (also called 'Time To Dance') features the sexy Jake Gyllenhaal. **Love**
But here's the thing.
This music video is pretty twisted. You'll see Jake slaughtering dancing hipsters, all to this wicked beat. It's kinda creepy how well Jake manages to channel his inner 'Travis Bickle'.
Prepare to be very disturbed... while enjoying a cool tune at the same time!

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure... Part 3???

by Carmen Cruz

Yup, it's true.

Alex Winter (AKA: Bill S Preston) and Keanu Reeves (AKA: Ted 'Theodore' Logan) have confirmed that they're ready to take on the famously infamous roles. Whoa.

Alex says "The movies were always about rock'n'roll. That was a big part of the movies, so (in this new movie) we'll explore what's happened to rock’n’roll in the last 20 years." Whoa.

Keanu also confirmed that a first draft of a script is now complete, and is being sent to studios. Whoa.

;D

Enjoy.

It's all about U2 ~ Songs of the week!!!

by Carmen Cruz

U2 is one of my favourite bands of all time. Yeah, their music has evolved (as it should! Who wants to listen to the same stuff over and over again???) and some people are keen on criticizing the band and everything they stand for. I'll always love these guys but hey! To each his/her own.

Here are a few of their lesser known tunes that (for me) have stood the test of time:

Miss Sarajevo featuring Luciano Pavarotti

Party Girl (Live from Red Rocks) ~ This is one of the very first songs I'd ever heard from these guys. I remember going to the library with my sister and borrowing the 'Under a Blood Red Sky' album (actually, it was the record). I instantly loved them.

Stay ( Far Away, So Close) ~ From the moment I saw this video (as a young and impressionable teen) I decided that one of my bucket list goals was to be in a U2 video. It's a dream a still hang on to, to this very day. Hey, a gal can dream can't she???

U2 - Stay (Far Away, So Close) by djoik

Lady With The Spinning Head

Slow Dancing ~ A B-side tune.

Staring at the Sun (Live)

In A Little While

There are SOOOOO many more, but I'll stop here... for now ;D

Enjoy!

Teachers are awesome!

by Carmen Cruz

I was driving in my neck of the woods this morning, and came across a bunch of teachers picketing outside a school. I honked my horn and gave them a huge smile and a thumbs up. Funny thing is, the person in front of me thought I was honking at them and gave me the bird. Haaaa haaaaa!

I'm not going to get all preachy on you but here's the deal; teachers are awesome.
They help mold our young minds, and the really good ones leave a lasting impression that you'll never forget.
My favourite teachers on the planet were Mr. Sainchuk and Mr. Cherry.
Mr.Sainchuk was my high school English teacher and made each and every class hilarious, entertaining AND educational. Not many teachers can do all 3.

Mr.Cherry was my high school math teacher. (**CONFESSION: Math is my Achilles heel. I actually ended up taking Math 33 THREE TIMES!!! This is not something I'm proud of. Insisted on pissing around and not taking the course seriously while in high school. I flunked out the first time, and barely squeaked by the second time. When I decided to go to broadcasting school... SURPRISE!!! They wanted me to have a decent math mark.
**gag**
I had to take the course all over again.
Enter Mr.Cherry.
I've never met a person more passionate about mathematics. He was this crusty, thin, tiny little old man with over sized glasses and greying teeth. He also had a habit of spitting on the chalkboard or overhead projector when he spoke. He had these really faded old jeans he'd faithfully wear once a week that had the pythagoras theorem written on them in permanent marker:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2\!\,
He looooved the story behind the pythagoras theorem and told us all about it (it's actually a gift that a man came up with and gave to the woman he loved. Crazy huh? He wanted something eternal and everlasting. I guess math is just that...???).
Mr.Cherry was so dedicated to helping me kick ass in the course, that he gave me his home number to call him whenever I needed help on an assignment. I took full advantage of this and would call him, sometimes several times in one evening, complaining and completely frustrated over a math problem. **Dear GAD I hate math!!!**
Mr.Cherry would always patiently guide me through the problem until the flashbulb in my brain went off.
I'll tell you now that I was terrified when I wrote my diploma exam.
My entry into broadcasting school depended COMPLETELY on the outcome of my math mark. If it was below 78%, it would drag my entire average down and kill any hopes of getting into the radio & TV program that year.
I still remember the day the diploma exam marks were posted. I went to the school with my mom in tow. I was afraid that I'd need her support when I saw the mark (what can I say? I'm a bit of a pessimist sometimes :P).
I walked to the concrete wall where the sheet of paper with all the final marks had been posted. I looked up my student ID number and my jaw fell to the floor. 96%?????
No. This isn't possible.
I had to check it again and again and then one more time. When it finally sank it, I literally began to cry. I was never more proud of myself than at that very moment... and I couldn't have done it without Mr.Cherry.
I ended up buying him a gift that I was sure he would love.
I bought a stainless steel travel mug and had the following engraved on it:

The 8th Wonder Of The World: a^2 + b^2 = c^2\!\,

On my last day of class, I gave him the mug, a massive hug and a million thank you's for all his help.

Many years have passed and I know that now, Mr.Cherry is now spitting on the chalk boards and overhead projectors in heaven, singing the praises of pythagoras theorem while wearing his sharpie covered, faded jeans.

So where am I going with this?

Teachers work hard, and the REALLY good ones work 10 times more.

My sister is a teacher, and so are a few of my friends. These people are so dedicated to what they do, and just want to make a difference. The want smaller class sizes, more assistance and better pay.
I can tell you that being a teacher is one of the most underrated and thankless jobs, but every once in a while, a teacher will come across a student (and vice versa) who helps to change their life forever.

If you happen to drive by some of the picketing teachers, if you feel so inclined, give them a thumbs up, a quick car honk, a wave, or even a warm cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate. You never know who's life they could be changing.

I'll never forget you Mr. Sainchuk and Mr. Cherry.

#1) Germany ~ Danke!
#2) Canada
#3) USA
#4) Iran ~ And I raaaaaan, I ran so far awaaaaayyyy. Aw. That was bad.

The cold, hard truth is that most people are most likely looking for the super famous transsexual porn star Carmen Cruz:

and then accidentally come across little ol' me:

 Talk about a disappointment huh?

Either way, I love hearing from you, so feel free to leave your comments below my postings. You no longer need to sign in to leave a comment, you just need to click and write.
Just remember to keep them clean and above the belt.

It's Sexy Time.

by Carmen Cruz

I was hanging out with a friend of mine the over the weekend and while we were stuck in traffic on the Lionsgate Bridge, we got to chatting about music. He's as big of a music nerd as I am, so we usually end up chatting (and quizzing) each other for hours. Nerd alert.
My amigo turned me on (no pun intended) to some sweeeeeeet love making music.
The group is called 'The Weeknd' and they're from London, Ontario. (YAAAY CANADA!)
Not only is their music AMAZING, it's also FREE for you to download. If you go to their website, they have a total of 3 albums for you to download, gratis.
In my humble opinion, the album called 'House of Balloons' is by far the best of the 3. Here's a sample of what you can expect....

It's Sexy Time! **said in the voice of Borat**

Enjoy ;D

METRIC IS RELEASING A NEW ALBUM!!! WHY AM I SHOUTING??? LOUD NOISES!!!

by Carmen Cruz

Metric has announced that they'll be releasing a brand spanking new album called 'Synthetica'.

According to the band, they say their new album will be about, "insomnia, f*cking up, fashion, all the devices and gadgets attached to our brains, getting wasted, watching people die in other countries, watching people die in your own country, dancing your ass off, questioning the cops, poetic justice, standing up for yourself, sex, the apocalypse, doing some stupid sh*t and totally regretting it but then telling everyone it made you stronger, leaving town as a solution to unsolvable problems, owning your actions and owning your time."

Phew!

If it's anything like their last album ('Fantasies'), it'll be gold Jerry. GOLD!!!!
'Synthetica' will be released on June 11th.
Nice.
Keep an eye on their website. They should be announcing their new tour schedule soon.

Here's a tune off their last album. It's reeeeeeeally good.

Enjoy!
